READ A LITTLE FROM FILE 01

Bringing the eagles back.

Reintroduction was done with a hack tower. That is a raised wooden platform with a box on top. Young eagles are placed in it before they can fly, and the box is opened when they are ready to go. Eagles tend to nest within about seventy-five miles of where they first flew, once they are old enough to breed. About fifteen states used hacking.

Tennessee began in 1980 and kept going until 2003. In the spring of 1983 a successful nest was found. It was the first known in the state since 1961.

A NOTE FROM VERNA

There is usually more
to the story.

I like a good animal story. I also want to know what happened after the part everybody repeats. That is why I put these twelve stories together.

Read them in any order. Follow the sources if you like. Where the record leaves a question open, I leave it open, too.

Thank you for reading, and for helping keep the channel going. Look after yourself.

A FEW PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Before you settle in.
